The success of any marketing campaign lies in the strength of its research. We spend considerable time looking at your industry, who the players are, where they’re being mentioned and who’s linking to them. When we’re done, we’ll know more about the media in your niche and your competitors than they do which will help us develop an effective link marketing plan.
Promotion Development
Guided by our research, the next step is to develop the promotion(s). Promotions can take many forms but since we’re very good at content promotion and it’s currently the best way to attract authority and media links, we tend to focus on developing content in a wide variety of formats as a way to attract links.
Our goal is to make your website the premier authority in your niche. In order to do this, we develop content, media and consumer buzz all designed to establish your website as the “go to” spot for what you sell. This methodology results in links, media attention and traffic to your site which in turn will help you rank well, build brand and make sales!
Given the way we work our custom link marketing service is a one-time campaign. Because of the type and complexity of the programs we implement, our custom service typically takes 90 days from start to finish. During this time, links are created and go to work driving media attention and traffic to your site. It’s important for any link campaign to look natural so we balance the type of links and the speed of their acquisition by stretching the service over three months. Because of the time and effort involved, we only handle a couple of custom accounts each month so waiting lists are not uncommon.

Next Steps
Our custom link building program is not for everyone, if you’re looking for an inexpensive service or one that nets 500 crappy links in a week, this isn’t it. This service is detailed, creates an extreme amount of content, involves traditional and social media and takes time to implement. If you’re interested in having a detailed outline created exclusively for your site showing step-by-step what we’ll do, where and how, here’s what we ask you do:
1. Visit the contact page and fill it out completely. In the Subject line write “Custom Service” and be sure to provide the URL of your site in the message box. If either of these things are left out we have no choice but to ignore the request.
2. Once we get your inquiry, we’ll take a look at the URL. If we have an opening and feel your site is a good match for what we offer, we’ll respond with a “next step” email.
3. The “next step” email will include a questionnaire and an invoice for a private, one-on-one webinar consultation. The questionnaire will be used to help create a custom link marketing program tailored exclusively for your website which will be presented in a PowerPoint format during an hour-long webinar by our link marketing specialist Debra Mastaler. We’ll outline exactly what we’ll do and how so you understand the procedures and thought process behind it. The invoice/fee goes toward paying for the customized proposal.
The proposal is customized to your site and industry and will be a very detailed breakdown of the link tactics we feel will benefit your site. It’s a step-by-step outline of strategies and tactics fully explained so you see in advance what we can offer and how things can be done. If after going through the outline you decide to have us implement the tactics, we can talk further about costs and timelines. But if you want to do the link work yourself/in-house, that’s fine too. The development fee covers the customized link marketing plan, not the labor to implement it.
So what exactly will be in the proposal? It’s broken into three categories:
- Content and media generation tactics
- Competitive strategies
- Foundational tactics
Content Generation Tactics. We’ll research your industry and come up with a list of strategies and tactics which may include but are not limited to developing content and distributing to media sites, blogs, how-to aggregators, government sites, newsletters, and more. All of the content generation tactics used are backed by a full media campaign targeting on and offline publications as well as bloggers and columnists. Content created can take the form of contests, articles, columns, blog posts, white papers, interviews, case studies and more.
Competitive Strategies. Using the information you provide on the questionnaire, we’ll research your competitors and outline where they’re linking and why they’re ranking ahead of you. With this information we also outline a step-by-step procedure for obtaining similar (and better!) links so you may jump ahead in the search results.
Foundational Tactics. Link diversity is important both from a marketing and algorithmic perspective. It’s not a good idea to depend on any one source for your “link juice” and/or traffic. This portion of the outline will focus on finding and listing high traffic and quality sites to secure links from. They can be from directories, profiles, social media, Twitter, private websites, educational and government sites, associations, Chambers etc. The Twitter section can be a lot of fun and brings in links, new followers and signups galore!
Again – all of the information outlined here will be included in the development proposal and presented in an one-hour webinar. If you decide to move forward and have Alliance-Link implement the tactics, that’s great, we’ll let you know how much it will cost to implement what we’ve laid out. But if you want to do it yourself, that’s fine too, the proposal and its content are yours to keep.
